THOMAS HYDE, LONDON, ENGLAND, STERLING SILVER, TEAPOT, 1789, H 7", W 10 1/2" :King George III era, hand chased Sterling silver teapot with a turned wood finial on the hinged lid. Also a wood handle. Engraved leaf and bunting patterns on the lid and top of the pot. On one side of the teapot is an engraved monogram "RV" and inscribed "To His Nurse". On the opposite side, engraved with a later date: "18th Sept 1867". Marked with lion passant (Sterling), King George III duty mark (1786-1821), London city mark and "O" with inverted shield date mark (1789) on the underside.

Condition

There is an old repair at the bottom of the arm of the spout. There is a repair along the perimeter of the base. There is a crease on the lower part of the body near the base. You can see this crease in the first photo on our website. There is a deep scratch on the lid, which extends from the finial to the rim edge of the lid. At the interior there are approx 4 areas with solder on the body. Three of the areas range from 1" to 1/2" in size and one area is in the shape of a "W", approx. 1" in height and 2" in width.
