Fine Rare Chinese Qing Dynasty Doucai Porcelain Large Plate beautifully painted in underglaze blue and overglaze enamels with a Dragon & Phoenix center surrounded by iron red and green double Lotus with "Shou" medalion centers, 5 color cloud border to top rim, the underside with iron red bats flying over rocks sprouting lingzhi and a surrounding band of water-waves & spray, the center of the base with a 6-character Yongzheng mark surrounded by double circles and all in underglaze blue. Good condition with a few very tiny burst glaze bubbles to rim edge; the original Dragon with 4 claws outlined in underglaze blue, now with an added 5th claw in green and white overglaze enamel to each of the 4 Dragon feet. Diameter 18 inches (45.7 cm.). Depth, foot to mouth, 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm.). Provenance: Purchased in 1961 from Lee-Kong Wang, Nathan Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong with a signed letter dated 6th December 1961 stating that Mr. Wang had already had this dish for 30 years; consigned to Eddie's Auction by a well known Manhattan Photographic Artist from her personal 60 year collection.
