Engraved portrait of William Augustine Washington (1752-1810), the youngest son of George Washington’s older half-brother, Augustine Washington. The portrait shows William Augustine near the end of his life; the original was executed in 1806. William Augustine served as a cavalry officer in the American Revolution. This engraving is a restrike done by Tiffany & Co. from the original plate in 1894. A handwritten caption beneath the image is written and signed by William Lanier Washington (1865-1933), also a descendant of George Washington. “Col. Wm. Augustine Washington, Eldest Nephew of Genl.
