Collector's note: This necklace/rosary was recovered from the ruins of an old colonial house destroyed by an earthquake in Puerto Rico in 1918. Both Puerto Rico and the Philippines were Spanish colonies until the end of the Spanish American War in 1898. Although recovered in Puerto Rico, it was made in the 1800's near the coast of the northern Philippines, Vigan-Llocas. The rosary is referred to as "tamorin", meaning filigree.
