Exceedingly rare first edition. Important portable Atlas that depicts all parts of the world known at the time: each map is accompanied by a short e letterpress explanatory text, in Latin. The work ends with a detailed toponymic Index. The plate n. VII of the section dedicated to America, which depicts California as a large island. The mountain ranges are indicated and there are different toponyms, "Apaches", the California Red Sea "Mare Vermejo", "Florida", "Nova Mexico," Canada ". The splendid allegorical Frontispiece is engraved by Gabriel Bodenehr, cartographer of the famous Augsburg dynasty of engravers, who probably also owe the unsigned geographical maps.
