A MEDIEVAL STYLE CAGE HILT DOUBLE EDGED RAPIER, POSSIBLY GERMAN, LATE 19TH CENTURY the wire wrapped handle with a paneled bell form pommel, before the long sided quillon and cage form hilt, enclosing a flat sided rectangular ricasso, issuing a tapering blade centering a simple line fuller inverting to a raised ridge ending at the pointed tip, total length: 49 1/2"; blade length with ricasso: 42 1/2".
Good condition for items of this age, use and materials including but not limited to; normal surface buildup, minor marks and scratches, small patches of light surface rust and some old pitting throughout.
