A GROUP OF FIVE EXPORT IMARI ENAMELED PORCELAIN "MATSU, TAKE, UME" PLATES, ARITA, JAPANESE, SHOWA PERIOD (1926-1989), of floriform, at center of each plate a medallion with encircling bamboo, pine and plum blossoms, best known as "The Three Friends of Winter," representing promise and good fortune, each surrounded by reserves painted respectively with garden landscape, goldfish and flowering blossoms, three with exterior underglaze ruyi mushroom motif, and the other two with red enamel cherry blossom and underglaze blue branch motif. Diameter: 8 1/2"


Some surface wear, mild rubbing and losses to gilt and enamel decoration, some surface soil, but overall in good to very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
