AN UNUSUAL VIETNAMESE / ANNAMESE BLUE AND WHITE GLAZED PORCELAIN DOUBLE BIRD HEAD KENDI FORM EWER, SHIPWRECK ARTIFACT, POSSIBLY LATE 15TH/EARLY 16TH CENTURY, the tapering circular body with sides painted in underglaze blue bird feather details, above a base with stylized lotus and foliage decoration, surmounted by short cylindrical neck and disc form mouth, flanked by two crested bird heads opposite scrolling tail feathers, the bottom with brown wash. Height: 5 5/8" Width: 6 5/8" Depth: 5 1/4"

Condition

In overall good, stable, excavated shipwreck condition, with areas of surface buildup and discoloration, marine encrustations, fine crackle to the glazing throughout, staining, surface is matt from long term marine water exposure.
