Description
interior with blue dragon and polychromed phoenix among yellow/green clouds on red ground, exterior with peonies and scrolling vines, base with mountain and river trademark and three characters translates "Made by Fukagawa", circa 1890s, 3-1/2 x 9-1/4 in. Glaze chip in green ground, wear to gilt rim, minor glaze bubbles, other firing flaws. See Nancy Schiffer, [Japanese Porcelain 1800-1950], Atglen, Pennsylvania, Schiffer Publishing, 1999, page 86.
