An Etruscan painted limestone life-sized head of a man, 4th - 3rd Century BC, perhaps a priest, the head carved, coated with stucco, then painted for realism, the ears and the back of the head seemingly unfinished. H: 10 1/4 in (26cm). The stucco still retains its original color in some places and depicts a fleshy skin tone. The hair is in ringlets forming straight rows. Paint still quite well-preserved in places. Ex West Sussex, England private collection, acquired over half a century through auctions, dealers and antiques fairs.
