The incredible career of Roy Campanella came to a sad and unexpected end in a car accident that rendered him paralyzed prior to the start of the 1958 baseball season. A short time prior to his death and after nearly 34 years of paralysis, the Hall of Famer could not sign his name to any items. However, shortly after coming home from being hospitalized for 6 months, Roy started the time consuming task of signing a limited number of the flat skins of baseballs. It was impossible for Campanella to sign a baseball due to the curvature shape. The majority of these limited autographed skins were then made into Major League baseballs. Experts have said, "Due to the special circumstances surrounding Roy Campanella, a Campanella autographed baseball could possibly be one of the rarest baseball autographs of a famous Major League Baseball player ever. Even rarer is the few autographed skins that were never sewn back to complete a baseball." This incredible collage includes one of these very rare skins (PSA Certified), a true piece of baseball history. The collage measures 35 x 29 inches. Comes with Certificate of Authenticity. PSA Certified.
