[Johnson/Signed] Dye-transfer print. After a painting by Walter Richards that was copied from Cecil Stoughton's iconic photograph. Lyndon B. Johnson being sworn in as President by Judge Sarah Hughes on Air Force One on Nov. 22, 1963, after the assassination of President Kennedy. A piece of original matting is inscribed: "To Eugene N. Murphy - /with best wishes, /Lyndon B. Johnson," inset into new matting. Murphey was an 18 year-old fighter pilot in WWII with the RCAF and then the USAAF, assigned as an aide to Eisenhower after the War, and was involved in aeronautics and aerospace. Recruited by the CIA, he traveled and worked all over the world, a CIA operative in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. He was the Chairman of Americans Abroad for Kennedy-Johnson and also actively supported Hubert Humphrey's bid for the presidency. He reported directly to Henry Kissinger during the Nixon years.
