Lot 8001
This lot consists of a hand-painted gouache work on cardboard, framed under glass, with "Magritte" hand written by the artist at lower right. This placid image depicts a woman with physical features so idealized, so perfect in their symmetry, that she could quite easily pass for classical marble. A pure white dove nestles on the woman's sculpted shoulder. Done in the thought-provoking, Surrealist style of Rene Magritte (Belgian, 1898-1967). This framed piece measures approximately 21" x 21.25". Image sight measures approximately 14.25" x 14.75".

Painting is accompanied by a laminated certificate, which provides a wealth of information on the artist and art specifics. Morgan Dryden, Authentication Expert and USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) Appraiser, values the piece at "$25,000 - 35,000". Full image of the certificate has been made available for the buyer's review.
