This lot consists of a hand-painted oil on canvas, with "Modigliani" hand written by the artist at upper left. Image depicts an elegant woman with almond-shaped eyes and a cropped haircut. She wears a black overcoat, and stares directly at the viewer with blushing cheeks. A small black rectangle is visible en verso, where a stamp presumably used to be. Done in the modern, Expressionist style of Amedeo Modigliani (Italian, 1884-1920). This framed piece measures approximately 11" x 8.5". Image sight measures approximately 9" x 6.5".
Accompanying certificate bears the name and information of a Dutch art gallery, which states, "The below is the best of our expertise and current knowledge. The descriptive material below is prepared with intent to be as accurate as possible... We hereby certify that the artwork is as described below..." Certificate goes on to provide informative notes on the artist, technique, condition, and more. by J.E. van Hassel of the van Hassel Galeri in Rotterdam, Holland.
