Lower tang has script S# markings as found on Fourth Model rifles. Full length mag. Front sight is integral w/ mag. band. Folding leaf carbine rear sight. Walnut carbine forearm & straight grip stock w/ iron forearm band & brass trapdoor carbine buttplate. Right side of stock has marking that may be a cattle brand. Mfg. 1878. CONDITION: finish on bbl., magazine & iron parts has turned to mottled patina appearance w/ some light pitting. Brass action shows evidence of past cleaning w/ numerous sm. marks & scratches. Stock & forearm have heavily worn appearance w/ added finish over dents & scratches. Stock is split down left side of comb. Dark heavily pitted bore.
