Byzantine Empire, ca. 6th to 7th century CE. This elegant terracotta vessel features a large raised ring base with a smaller concentric ring surrounding it, smooth and rounded shoulders, pinched sides, a large tab-shaped handle with several vertical lines on the front side and two longer parallel lines running down the back, a large fill hole with a surrounding square design with three dots in each corner, a stylized cross motif in the neck channel, and a small wick spout. Size: 3.875" L x 2.25" W x 1.9" H (9.8 cm x 5.7 cm x 4.8 cm).
