This child's tea set was made by Charles Allerton & Sons, Staffordshire, around 1880. The pattern, Stag 750, features an aesthetic tableau with a bellowing stag in profile, flowers, ferns, scrolls, and even a sailboat. The off white china set carries a powder blue transfer pattern, which repeats, with modifications, on the 3 serving pieces. The set contains Teapot and lid, sugar bowl and lid, creamer, 6 plates, 4 cups, and 4 saucers. The teapot, 5 1/2" tall with lid, has chips on the spout, and rim, one of the 5 1/8" plates has an old, repaired break, and one cup has an old chip over the handle. The saucers, are 4 5/8" across, and 1" high(saucer bowls). The only marks are on the plates, a wreath with "STAG 750" inside the blue ink mark. You can find single pieces of this set, but few in blue, and much more rare in a set. A wonderful set, ready to charm your tea room.
