Bluebird Trophy

Lot 0050 Details

Description
1933 Bluebird trophy. At Brooklands in 1933, G. Harvey Noble, a successful driver who some called Mr. Brooklands, won a handicap, a scratch race and then the Bluebird event. Noble recounted all this in an interview in the March 1972 edition of Motorsport Magazine. Sir Malcolm Cambell was on hand, demonstrating his V-12 Rolls Royce aero-engine Bluebird land speed record car. Campbell set the land speed record of 206.956 mph in this car. The Bluebird trophy was presented by The Sydenham Motor Club and was to presented annually. Engraved year plaques on the trophy indicate Nobles win in 1933 and the fact that it was not awarded in 1934 and 1935. It was subsequently never awarded again. Various objects accompany this lot. Trophy 22 1/4" x 17 1/4".
