"Irakli Parjiani is one of the most important painters among the Soviet artists of 1980s"... He kept without any compromise his personal artistic style"... Parjiani's art represents a harmonic world in which the ancient archaic spirit is combined with monumentality of medieval painting and expressive tension. The world of this artist is complicated and rich"...

"I paint for myself", says the artist. "My pictures have to find the way to the people on their own. Berlin gave me new impulse to work. I work in new media, in acrylic, which somehow combines the effects of my earlier media. I feel to have much more freedom, like all of my wishes come true. Now I can realize all my ideas, which I carried for a long time. I have to work"(Irina Popiaschwilli, Art Expert at the Art Academy, Tbilisi; excerpts from the exhibition catalog, Berlin 1990)
