Lot 0286
By Pierre Julian (1731-1804). Rare and notable bronze sculpture, Amalthea and Jupiter's Goat. Fabulous time-worn patina. Julian was a French sculptor who worked in a full range of rococo and neoclassical styles. His father was a carpenter who probably taught him the fundamentals of wood carving. Pierre's uncle led him to Le Puy where he entered the workshop of Gabriel Samuel (1689-1758) and created his first known work, Orpheus in the Clouds Playing the Violin. From the Sandra Clements Bronze Collection.
