The pattern instituted with the creation of the U.S. Coast Guard in 1915, the mounts of gilt bronze with U.S.C.G. on the guard. With pre-1945 genuine rayskin covered grip with all wires intact. The lightly curved blade etched with patriotic and scrolling motifs, fouled anchor and brass proof mark, with the owner's name, James T. Murphy at the right forte. With its detached gilt regulation scabbard mounts. First half of the 20th century. Light toning to blade. Overall lengt 91.5 cm. Condition II
