New England Grouse Shooting by William Harnden Foster, Scribner's, New York, 1947. Hardcover. Tan cloth with titles and cover decoration in brown; folio; illustrated with tipped-in color frontispiece after painting plus numerous text and full-page drawings by the author; foreword by Dr. William Bruette; 2nd printing (1st printing done in 1942). With chapters on guns and loads; grouse dogs; the birds of yesterday and today; shooting outfits and a lesson on grouse shooting. Perhaps, the best grouse hunting book ever written and the illustrations are of equal brilliance. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of American Wildlife Artist and Veterinarian Don "Doc" Shoffstall. He had also illustrated several books for Amwell Press during his career and was a veterinarian by profession. Measures 9 1/2"x12 1.4"x 1". Weight 2 pds. 8 oz.
