Eugene Henri Cauchois (French, 1850-1911) Original Oil on Canvas Still Life of Flowers and Music, on a Draped Table. Signed by the artist lower right. In ornate period French gold leaf carved wood frame. Stretcher 25 1/2"x22". In Frame 40 1/2"x36"x4 1/2". Weight 48 pds. Eugene Henri Cauchois was born in Rouen, France in 1850. He was a student of Duboe, Cabanel and Quost. By 1874, Eugene was regularly represented in the Paris Salons with flower and genre pieces. In his later years, he turned mainly to decorative painting and embellished the walls of a school in the 6th arrondissement with flowers from different seasons. Eugene Henri Cauchois died in 1911, in Paris.
