A rare Eastern Scythian/Ordos culture bronze dagger, c. 6th - 5th Century BC, Spring and Autumn period, with a pointed beveled blade, the flattened handle with three vertical grooves within a rectangular profile, the pommel design with two adjoining circles symbolizing the beaks of two birds on a low base, the guard featuring a motif consisting of tightly wound spirals. A very nice example from this rare culture from Northern China - Inner Mongolia. L: 11 2/3 in (29.6cm). Nice even brown patina. Ex collection of Charlton M. Theus, Jr (1927-2015), New York.
