A fantastic Attic black-figure skyphos, c. 510 - 480 BC, depicting frolicking satyrs chasing maenads, with sphinxes and palmettes to either side. The figures are accented with incised lines with solid horizontal band below, vertical tongues above the foot. D: 6 in (15.4cm), H: 4 1/3 in (11.1cm). Very well preserved with light deposits. A beautiful example! Ex collection of Alexandre Nicolai (1865-1952), France.
