An acoustic guitar with custom decoration signed by many musicians including John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, Pete Townshend, Roger Daltrey, Kenney Jones, Mick Jagger, Brian Jones, Bill Wyman, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry, and many others. The guitar has a painted blue neck, black and silver sequins on the body, and a skeleton cutout on the back. No maker or serial number present.
The guitar belonged to Alvin Stardust (née Bernard Jewry), who performed under the name Shane Fenton in the 1960s and then as Alvin Stardust through the 1970s, into the 1980s, and up until his death in 2014. He had numerous hits, including "My Coo Ca Choo," "Jealous Mind” and "I Feel Like Buddy Holly." Stardust nicknamed the guitar "Peggy Sue” when he was 16 years old, after meeting his idol Buddy Holly at a concert in Doncaster in the UK in March 1958. Holly was the first to sign the guitar, and from then on, in Stardust's own words, he "took the guitar everywhere." As Stardust entered the music business himself, he continued collecting signatures and did so throughout his career.
Accompanied by a signed letter of authenticity from Stardust's wife, Julie Paton-Jewry, and photographs including Stardust with the guitar, Daltrey signing the guitar, Cliff Richard holding the guitar, and Townshend with the guitar. Also accompanied by an autograph map showing the location of each signature on the guitar, a USB drive containing a video of Stardust explaining the history behind the guitar, and a hardshell case.
