Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A lovely hand-carved carnelian intaglio of warm red-orange hues depicting a left-facing bull with tall horns and a muscular body. The intaglio is circular in form with beveled sides and set within the wide bezel of a modern high-quality sterling silver ring. A wonderful and wearable example of fine Roman craftsmanship!
