The German artist Joseph Beuys and Warhol are contemporaries and, although they are not close friends, they share a mutual
admiration.
The first meeting between Beuys and Warhol took place in 1979 in Duesseldorf, the residence of the Nordic artist.
Subsequently Beuys arrives in New York for a retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum and revisits Warhol at the Factory.
Just a few months later in Naples, on April 1, 1980, the world premiere Beuys’ portraits that Warhol produced.
