Lucien Labaudt (1880-1943) was a French-born painter who is credited with introducing modernism to San Francisco. He taught at the California School of Fine arts and is associated with the post surrealists, a group centered around Helen Lundeberg and Lorser Feitelson. With his wife Marcelle, Labaudt founded a school of costume design, to which this drawing appears to relate. Exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Art, The Bohemian Club, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Oakland Art Gallery, Museum of Modern Art, NY, Brooklyn Museum, Stendhal Galleries, Crocker Museum.
