Magnificent pair of Chinese carved wood palace chairs, circa 1950.Measuring 85" high, width 32", and the depth 28" each./////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////These chairs were part of an inventory of a Chinese dealer who had a shop in NYC seliing expensive Chinese antique items.For either tax or immigration reasons the dealer closed his shop and fled the country,owing 60 thousand in rent to the landlord.The landlord legally obtained ownership of the items in the store then offered them to sale to several liquidators in NYC, before agreeing to sell the contents of the store to David Killen Gallery.In the May 12th auction, lots 81, 85 and 87 are all from this closed store.According to the managment company, the pair of chairs were originally for sale in the store for 25,000 each before the store was closed.David Killen gallery is starting the price at 50.00 FOR THE PAIR with no reserve, or at whatever price there are bids online at the start of the auction.As of Thursday morning, the bids are up to 100.00 for lot 85.Good luck!
