Ca. 1850. H 6 ¼, W 10 ¼ in.
View of the Hongs on pearl river at Canton (now Guangzhou). Attribute to You Qua. On a small paper, all of the Hongs, ships, boats, and are in very fine details. It is the finest China Trade port scenes created by an export painter in 19th century. It is very similar even with the clouds to the one of an oil painting in the collection of the Peabody Museum of Salem. Ref: Carl L. Crossman, The China Trade, 1991. pp140.
