Heavy Copper Three-Masted Ship with 'C.R.' flag at stern, the hull weighted, the Wrought Iron Base has copper directionals, rests on four arched and scrolled legs, roughly 88" (7'-4") tall, 64" (5'-4") long, 33" leg to leg. Weathered.
Clipperways, an 8,000-square-foot home built at Prouts Neck in 1898 by James Shaw, was demolished in 2011. The house was known as the "Jewel of Prouts Neck†and was a vacation destination for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was a friend of a former owner, the Huntington family of Boston. It was on Winslow Homer Road, not far from the late artist’s studio, which is now owned by the Portland Museum of Art.
