Lot 2611
First half 20th century, Pennsylvania. Purchased from the maker by the father of the current owner. The model with channeled sheet zinc and copper roofs, copper framing and decorative elements such as chimneys, vents, roof finials, crosses on steeple and entry. The spire is comprised of leaded glass mosaic with red jeweled edges, a clock face embedded on all sides in the steeple base, which is illuminated from within. The main body of the church is also of leaded glass mosaic with a row of etched frosted Gothic windows with ruby red borders. The structure rests on a sand textured "stone" foundation. The exterior is within a copper post fence with copper posts of simulated brick, topped with ball finials. The church entrance, protected by a pitched roof, has a plaque inscribed "CHRIST CHURCH" over the entrance steps. An obelisk is positioned at the corner of the entry and on the other corner is a sign which identifies the days and times of service. The foundation is marked at each corner with the date of 1828. The Chancel of the church includes the structure at the rear behind the altar and is constructed of mosaic glass beneath a copper roof. The roof may be removed to access the interior, which is also fully illuminated. Within the church one finds a fully appointed interior, including ceiling arches, pews, altar, floor candlesticks, etc. A selection of accessories is included with this lot, including a bride and groom. This is a beautiful model with fine attention to detail and an extraordinary example for any collection. Very fine original condition that has remained untouched over time. The model retains original sturdy stand on which it is fitted for display. Condition: (Very Good). Dimensions: 60" T x 28" W x 49" L.
