A Russian porcelain bowl from a Service with the Motto for Service and Bravery, Imperial Porcelain Factory, St. Petersburg, period of Nicholas I (1825-1855), 1840s. The bowl with scalloped rim, the interior with a border of gilt anthemia and scrolls, with a double-headed eagle with princely crowns and the Shield of St. George on its breast clutching the ribbons and the badges of the Orders of St. Vladimir, 1st class and St. George, 2nd class in its talons, the gilt Russian motto in.For Service and Braveryin. (Za sluzhbu i khrabrost). The underside with dark blue Imperial cypher mark of Nicholas I. A great deal of this service is held in the collection of Pavlovsk Palace, so it might have been ordered for a member of the Imperial family. 4 1/4 h x 12 Diameter
