Bernard Buffet (1928 - 1999, France) "Laennec" is a rare and vintage color lithograph on linen paper. The original, classic image of 'Laennec' by Expressionist artist Buffet was created in 1965 using gouache, India ink and wax crayon on paper. The subject of the work of art, Doctor Rene-Theophile-Hyacinthe Laennec, was a French physician credited with inventing the stethoscope in 1816. This vintage piece is signed in the stone and measures approximately 12" x 9;" with frame and matting, it is 20" x 20." It is in very good condition.
