With a blazing pearl looms at the center of the moon flask beneath the dragons gaze creates the very detailing central depiction. The neck of the vase is vaulted upward from the voluptuous bottom half to eventually form an elliptic opening. Fu-Lion head shaped handles flank both sides of the neck and connect to the verges of the vessel. Two free ring jade ornaments dangle from either side of the vase. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The stone is an attractive pale-celadon hue with a clean even tone. Lighter golden russet inclusions makeup several areas. The jade is extremely well carved giving it an aura of splendor, This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The Jade conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese nephrite jade, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the carving, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, and distinct. This piece displays a subtle sheen as the light ricochets across the finely exterior, glazed smooth, brilliant with a moist appearance, the finishing meticulous.
Jade, as a stone, has five virtues. Its glossiness and warmth is like benevolence. Because inside and outside is the same, so that knowing the outside one knows the inside, this may be likened to righteousness. Its far-reaching sound (when struck) may be heard from afar, like wisdom. It is not easily bent, but can be broken, which may be likened to courage. Jade can be sharpened, but not to the point where it can injure people; this quality is like self-regulation or restraint.
