Model 1860 light cavalry saber manufactured by W.H. Horstmann & Sons of Philadelphia likely as an officer's private purchase. Believed to date to the period of the American Civil War or immediately afterword. In very good condition with only minor carbon marks on the blade, light wear of the leather of the grip, and some tarnish of the guard. Blade measures 35 1/2 inches long. Blade has fairly extensive acid-etched decoration and some decoration on the hilt. Scabbard has very bright nickel finish with only minor denting.
