AMERICAN PUNCH-WORK NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, wool on perforated paper, five alphabet, numeral, and verse rows, signed "Cornelia Smith 13 Years old" in the third row, all above "Woodbury June 12th 1847", flower motif in each corner. Housed under glass in an old frame. Possibly New England. Dated 1847. 10 3/8" x 7" object, 13 7/8" x 10 3/4" OA.
Minor fading, overall toning, some staining, scattered losses to thread, tears and wear to paper mostly along edges, frame with some wear. Not examined out of frame.
Provenance: The Jack and Tommie Marsh collection, Columbia, SC.
