PAIR OF AMERICAN AESTHETIC MOVEMENT CARVED MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS OWNED BY JEDEDIAH "JED" HOTCHKISS (SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA, 1828-1899), with carved floral decoration, later upholstery. Retains original surface with warm color. Circa 1880. 31 1/4" HOA, 16 3/4" H seat.
Very good overall condition.
Provenance: From a long established Staunton, VA family._x000D_
Descended from Jed Hotchkiss, original to his residence, "The Oaks", Staunton, VA.
Catalogue Note: Jedediah "Jed" Hotchkiss was a cartographer, under General Stonewall Jackson, during the American Civil War.
