OCTOBER 16, 1860" ahead of the rear sight, the upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873" and the serial number appears on the lower tang behind the lever latch. Dovetailed front blade sight and adjustable buckhorn rear sporting sight. Complete with an original four piece cleaning rod stored in the butt compartment.

Serial Number: 89061
Excellent. The barrel and magazine retain 97% of the original bright blue finish with some scattered surface rust. Almost 95% of the original case colors remain on the receiver and forend cap with much of the original lacquer also remaining. The lever and buttplate show strong original case colors with minor surface oxidation. With exception of a small chip on the lower right wrist at the receiver, the wood is excellent with almost all of the original oil finish remaining, a few minor dings and scratches and sharp checkering. The markings are clear and crisp. The action is excellent. This "attic" rifle (it was literally a walk-in, not from collector) has collected some duct over the years , and with a little gentle cleaning would be a super, completely original, deluxe special order Winchester Model 1873 rifle, making the center piece of any collection. Writer absolutely loves this Model 1873!
