"Saint Gertrude, The Great"_x000D_
Oil on copper. 31 x 25 cm. It is presented in an Italian frame in carved wood with chiselled bronze applications from the late seventeenth century._x000D_
Probably based on one of the engravings of the 18th century that extended the iconography of Santa Gertrudis, such as the one published in 1720 by Juan Bautista Lardito about the life of the saint according to the engraving by Franciso or Francisca del Hierro. These writings and engravings helped to foster the devotion of one of the most beloved saints of the New Spain culture.
