Terracotta funerary cone for Montuemhat. The inscription reads: "The venerated one in the presence of Osiris, the fourth priest of Amun, Montuemhat, true-of-voice, and his beloved wife, known to the king, mistress of the house, Wadjrenes, true-of-voice" c. 700 BCE – c. 650 BCE, 6 1/4 inches long. Intact. From an old NYC collection, acquired in late 1970s to early 1980s See No. 420 in Davies & Macadam, A Corpus of Inscribed Funerary Cones, 1957. Mentuemhat was a Theban official who lived during the Twenty-fifth Dynasty of Egypt and Twenty-sixth Dynasty of Egypt. He was the Fourth Priest of Amun in Thebes. He is known from many statues, and was buried in the Theban Necropolis.
