Important Pair Of Early Dutch Delft Vases
This rare and likely unique pair of large, shaped and ribbed Delft vases are the work of the Dutch factory of Pieter Adriaensz Kocks and date around 1700.
A sophistication of the type generally only for the court. What stands these apart are the exceptional potting, the beautifully shaped forms, the crisp shaping of their twenty-one ribs, the superior painted designs and most certainly the use of the highly raised bole, that red identical to such as on the early Turkish Iznik wares. Further, an impressive size, 14 3/4" tall, nice condition, no restorations, a chip on mostly the underside of one's lip. Both with the period marks of perhaps the greatest of Delft potters, Pieter Adriaensz Kocks.
