Item A of items A-G, one of seven Indiana paintings from an Indianapolis collection offered individually in this sale.

FORKNER, Edgar (American, 1867-1945): Journeys End, a Harbor Seascape with Boats, oil on artist's board, 17.8 x 23.9 inches, signed lower right, titled and dated on a 1936 amended to 1937 Hoosier Salon label verso. Driftwood style mid century frame with fabric and gilt liner. Accompanied by a 1945 newspaper article citing the painting's re-exhibition in the 1945 Hoosier Salon Forkner Memorial Exhibition with a review of the painting attesting to its quality. Lyman Bros., Indianapolis label on backing paper.

Condition

Sound estate discovery condition with nice light painterly impasto, no craquelure, even surface dirt and mellowed varnish. Frame with some scattered edge wear and liner wear and discoloration. Backing paper brittle, cut and tattered.
