SCHUYLER, HARTLEY AND GRAHAM, NEW YORK PRESENTATION SWORD AND SCABBARD, C19TH C, L 33 1/4" :Having an engraved blade, depicting crossed cannons, banners, flags, and acanthus leaves and inscribed "E Pluribus Unum. A pierced design shell guard with an eagle with a gilt finish. Brass wire wrapped ray skin hilt. A metal scabbard with brass fittings. Engravings on one scabbard band inscribed "To Col. N. L. McMillen From His Wife 95th Regt. O.V.G.". Overall length 38 1/2".

Condition

Losses to the gilt finish on the blade and guard. The leather piece between the handle and the guard is cracking and splitting. When the scabbard is on the sword, there is an approx. 1/8" gap between the scabbard and the sword's handle. The sword does not fit tightly into the scabbard.
