A Rare Chinese Carved Lacquer Cinnabar Box The dish with shallow rounded sides, deeply carved on the interior with of long-tailed birds, each with their finely detailed wings outstretched as though in flight, against a ground of large peony blooms borne on leafy branches, the reverse decorated with a wide scroll-band , raised on a short foot conforming with the shape of the mouth rim and enclosing the brownish-black base.
