Lot 2003
One of the rarer and more desirable secondary US martial pistols, Joseph Henry with 150 pairs in 1807 and 600 in 1808, delivered quantities unknown. Pistol with long barrel, deeply struck with proof on left side. Bolted lock, signed at tail J. Henry Phila. Lock stamped at center US. CONDITION: Barrel with minor pitting throughout, more significant at breech and touch hole. The lock has crisp markings. The frizzen and pan have pitting similar to breech, indicating that this may well be original flint. Hammer is a modern cast replacement of incorrect function and is loose on stud. Pinned walnut full stock with no visible cartouche, but no significant losses. Brass trigger guard and butt cap of typical 1807-08 form. Except for the hammer and screw, this rarity appears to be original. Ramrod with slotted tip, possibly the original. Bore is fair. This fine secondary martial flint would benefit from a proper hammer. Barrel Length: 10" Caliber/Bore: .54 Smoothbore FFL Status: Antique Manufacturer: J. Henry Model: US 1808 Serial Number: NSN
