Finely cast sculpture of the Greek poet Sapho standing with her lyre in flowing diaphanous drapery. Sapho was known for her lyric poetry that she sang while playing the lyre and has become a symbol of female homosexuality through the words of her poems.
Bronze,Overall 28 1/2" x 8",
From the collection of a Great Neck, New York gentleman.
Signed "E. Villanis" and titled "Sapho" on base.
