1265. Federation Starfleet Phaser and Holster, in the style of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, used in Star Trek: The Next Generation. (Paramount-TV, 1987-94) Vacuum-formed plastic painted a copper color with a rubber grip and a pushbutton trigger that illuminates a light on top. Includes a plastic holster with Velcro attachment on the side. Similar models have been used in TMP, but this phaser is adorned with an "electronics" graphic decal more in the style of TWOK. This version TMP/TWOK phaser was originally sculpted by Ed Miareki, who sold solid resin versions of it at conventions. When The Next Generation production needed a retro-style phaser for the episode, "Yesterday's Enterprise," Miarecki built several models by vacuum-forming over one of his solid resin phasers. Consequently, this phaser is slightly larger than the original resin versions and the ones used in TMP/TWOK. After completion of "Yesterday's Enterprise," this phaser was altered to its current configuration for use in another Star Trek production--most likely DS9. Measures 8 1/2 in. long.
