Sigmar Polke (German, 1941-2010) Attributed: Abstract Composition, Acrylic on board, signed bottom right.

Sigmar Polke (German, 1941-2010): Sigmar Polke was a German artist who worked in, and combined, a variety of mediums. Born in Poland in 1941, he fled with his family to communist East Germany at an early age, and again to Dusseldorf in West Germany in 1953. His style of Capitalist Realism paintings criticized the conventions of consumer culture and a media-saturated society that was being propagated on a global scale through American Pop Art.
